Miguel Órdenes
Miguel Órdenes received his MA, and is currently a doctoral candidate, in the Policy and Organization Studies division in the Graduate School of Education at the University of California, Berkeley. He studied Sociology at the PontificiaUniversidad Católica in Santiago, Chile. His research focuses on understanding how extrinsic incentives – market and high-stake accountability - shape teacher commitment to students. For three years, prior to his studies at Berkeley, he worked as a research assistant in an Education Policy Center at Universidad Diego Portales in Santiago, Chile. At Berkeley, he has been instrumental in an evaluation of a federal Teacher Incentive Fund initiative. He has co-published a number of articles and chapters, most notably Teacher Evaluation, Pay for Performance, and Learning around Instruction: Between Dissonant Incentives and Resonant Procedures, in Educational Administration Quarterly, and Teacher Work Motivation in the Era of Extrinsic Incentives: Performance Goals and Pro-social Commitments in the Service of Equity, in Educational Policy Analysis Archives.
