Kristine L. Bowman
Kristine Bowman is Associate Dean for Academic and Student Affairs at Michigan State University College of Education and a Professor of Law at Michigan State University College of Law. Her research examines education policy systems created by law and focuses on governance relationships, racial and ethnic equity, free speech in public schools (K-12 and higher education), and the intersection of these issues.
She is a recipient of the Education Law Association’s Steven S. Goldberg Award for Distinguished Scholarship in Education Law, a member of the American Law Institute, and an American Bar Foundation Fellow. Prior to teaching, she represented school districts as an attorney at Franczek PC in Chicago and clerked for a federal appeals judge. She also worked at the US Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights.
Bowman holds a J.D. and M.A. from Duke University and a B.A. from Drake University.
