Anna Hogan
Dr Anna Hogan is a lecturer of curriculum and assessment in HPE and science within the School of Human Movement and Nutrition Sciences. Anna graduated with First Class Honours from the BApSc(HMS)(Edu) program at the University of Queensland in 2008. Subsequently, she completed a Masters of Educational Studies majoring in Public Education while teaching HPE, Science and Biology at a number of Brisbane secondary schools. Anna completed her PhD at the University of Queensland, which was supervised by Professor Bob Lingard and awarded in 2015.
Anna's research interests broadly focus on education policy and practice. Specifically, she investigates the commercialisation and privatisation of schooling. She currently works on a number of research projects, including investigating the commercialisation of Australian public schools, the privatisation of global school provision, the outsourcing of school curriculum and assessment, and the commercialisation of young people’s health and wellbeing. She has published widely on these topics, and has worked closely with school systems and teachers’ unions in relation to these issues, including Education International, the Australian Education Union and the New South Wales Teachers Federation. Anna is Associate Editor of Critical Studies in Education.
